The map in the overview below carries the ShakeMap shaking layer with its legend.

Overview245 acquisitions · 183 footprints

Every satellite and aerial acquisition the mission catalogued: where each image falls against the mission places, and when it was taken against the earthquake. Below it, when each agency delivered products. Outlines show what an image covers, not what it shows.

The map needs the Leaflet library, which did not load here. The timeline and the table below carry the same acquisitions.

Data acquisitions

One tick per pass (a satellite's frames or tiles less than 15 minutes apart), coloured as on the map; the pale bars behind are the day's count. Drag across the timeline to narrow the map to those days, click a day to show only it, click a tick to pin its details. Archive older than five weeks before the event is counted in the “earlier” column, not drawn. The dashed diamonds on the last lane are passes still to come (planned or predicted, not acquired); the next-acquisitions page lists them with their basis.

Product deliveries by agency: none released yet.

This response to the magnitude 7.7 earthquake of 2026-10-09 (12 km WSW of Pitaloza Arriba, Panama, USGS us6000u18k) was compiled by Pietro Milillo. Imagery and damage products are credited to their producers beside each item, and the programme funding is stated on every page.

How to contribute data

This is a research product. It is not for emergency use and it is not an official assessment.

You can use a form on this site's GitHub repository (Issues, New issue) to: offer ground-based data (field survey grades, photographs, strong-motion records, GNSS, damage inventories, drone imagery); suggest a dataset or source the mission should harvest; or suggest or contribute a damage product. You can also comment on an item, correct a fact or tell us about a missing source.

Each form asks what it is, where it covers, when, under which licence, how to obtain it, who produced it, what its limits are, and for your consent to publish the description. Damage products also ask for the valid-area mask and the method.

What happens next: a person on the team reads your issue. Nothing is downloaded, run or published automatically. The person checks the licence, the link, the coordinate system, the valid area and whether it covers the mission's places. They accept or decline and tell you why on the issue. Accepting means the team will look further; it does not mean the data is already used.

Everything you write is public. Do not include personal data, passwords or private links. Using an AI assistant to write is welcome: tick the box and name it.
